Holy Cross College is a Catholic, co-educational, residential college in St. Joseph County in Indiana. The campus is found in Notre Dame, a community northeast of South Bend City. The school if affiliated with Saint Mary's College and the University of Notre Dame. The college was first established in 1966. The school is administered by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
Holy Cross College’s 4-year baccalaureate program is made up of four requirements outside of the classroom. These requirements are: a service learning project, international experience, a senior capstone presentation, and a professional internship. Each student has to complete the same core of courses, and each can take electives that can be taken to allow each student to take the classes that they want. Students also have an advisor for their major, while those with an optional academic concentration have another co-advisor. Students can take their choice of courses at any local university that is part of the Northern Indiana Consortium of Education.
Among the Bachelor of Arts degrees offered by the school includes History, Liberal Studies, Psychology, English, Business, Communications, Visual Arts, Theology, and Education with dual licensure in Elementary Education and English as a New Language. The college also offers minors such as Sociology, English, Global Perspectives, Communications, Gerontology, History, Spanish, Art History, Political Science, Psychology, Theology, Business, Education, Liberal Studies, and Visual Arts (which includes Studio or Graphic Design). An Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies is also available.
Holy Cross College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The school competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). The school fields teams in several sports including soccer, baseball, lacrosse, basketball, cheerleading, ice hockey, golf, and cross country. The school colors are maroons and silver and the school nickname are the Saints.
